ECVP2005 - TOP TEN FINALISTS for Best Visual Illusion of The Year Contest

The European Conference on Visual Perception (ECVP) is the world's premier transnational conference dedicated to the science of visual perception.

ECVP 2005 in A Coruña, Galicia, Spain promises to be the most exciting ECVP to date, and offers a beautiful and fun-filled locale combined with cutting-edge discoveries in vision research. Participants at the conference present original contributions related to psychology, cognitive and visual neuroscience, and computer vision.

The program includes several exciting invited symposia as well, presented by some of the world's leading scientists discussing new major discoveries in the field. In addition, ECVP 2005 will hold several special events, including The First Annual Best Visual Illusion of the Year Award, a Pre-Meeting Symposium on Art and The Visual System, and much, much more! The ECVP 2005 call for novel illusions has been a huge success, with a total of 74 submissions.

A panel of impartial judges has rated the illusions and narrowed them to the TOP TEN, according to:

Sheer beauty
Counterintuitive quality
Spectacularity

ECVP ATTENDEES WILL CHOOSE THE TOP 3!!

At ECVP in A Coruña (August 22-26, 2005), the top ten illusionists will present their contributions and the attendees of the event will vote to pick the TOP THREE WINNERS! First, Second, and Third prize winners will each receive a specially designed trophy from the Science Museums of A Coruña (Museos Científicos Coruñeses), and theirwinning illusions will be made part of the museum's exhibition!

The Visual Illusion Contest and Celebration Party will take place in the evening of Tuesday, August 23rd, at the PALEXCO Conference Center in A Coruña, sponsored by the Science Museums of A Coruña, Spain (Museos Científicos Coruñeses).
