Neuroinformatics is a new research paradigm for constructing a support environment which integrates databases related to neuroscience research with data analysis techniques. In neuroinformatics, the mathematical model will play an important role and will be a common language to understand and restore numerous experimental results systematically. REIKEN BSI Laboratory for Neuroinformatics research group constructs a vision science database and develops an environment for modeling, analysis and simulation as a neuroinformatics platform. Moreover, wide range of models in visual system, from single cell level to macro level in terms of computational and systems' approaches, are developed.
